Hong Kong is the financial capital in Asia and that means living in this country is gold, even time is gold. Hong Kong means luxury in every way; time, money, culture, attraction, and business. So budget everything wisely and know what your goal and mission.
It's my second time in Hong Kong and I spent two days and three nights in this country. It wasn't my best trip ever but the shopping and food hopping in Causeway bay and Central were fantastic! (Planning to go back maybe this year)
MTR – I’ve never been to Singapore but for me, this massive and fast transportation in the city is the best so far. It is so convenient, that you don’t need to use a car even you’re the richest person in the world... noh?!
You’ll be amazed:
-- How convenient and fast from/to airport and city.
-- How they build the tunnel for the train since Hong Kong is consists of different islands and mountains.

Food – this is one of the best part in Hong Kong, people who loves to eat especially dim sum and noodles will enjoy the country’s best dim sum house from high-end to low cost restaurant. Yes, some Hong Kongers are rude but not all of them especially if you’ll eat in Lin Heung Tea House.
Lin Heung Tea House in Central, a very old… as in old…don’t ask me how old… serves one of the best and authentic Chinese cuisines in town…
Big fast food chains in Hong Kong; McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Cafe de Coral, and even Philippines very own fast food brand Jollibee is available to budget and want to eat safe food travelers.
Art – Hong Kong is the next destination to explore contemporary modern art in Asia, I guess it is because the land was a former British colony, who loves art. Exhibit here, exhibit there… their all amazing!

I got a chance to mesmerized from a French exhibition by Bettina Rheims at City Hall in Central but taking pictures is prohibited.

Massage – while my friends did the common tourist spots, I went to Central to searched for a very good foot massage. With the help of The Wanderlister, I tried The Healthy Feet in Elgin St…. fantastic, the best in the entire universe! I was freaking tired from walking, I slept during the session and forgot to take a picture.
Star Ferry -- yes its old and grumpy, but it is one of the fastest and cheapest way to Central (especially if you're going to The Peak) if you're coming from Tsim Sha Tsui in less than 5 minutes.
FYI : |
If your Macau ferry will bound in Central Pier and your place to stay is in Tsim Sha Tsui… you can ride the Star Ferry from Central to TST.
if you're going to The Peak from Star Ferry, you have two options: Bus 15 (direct to The Peak) and Bus 15C in front of Pier 8 (to The Peak Tram... if you want to ride the old tram to The Peak)

Shopping – this part of Hong Kong’s luxury is my favorite, besides known as financial capital of Asia, Hong Kong is also known as mecca for shopaholics. If you can’t go to USA or Europe because of difficulty to have a valid visa to enter their country, then Hong Kong is the solution. From high end to low names of brand, you’ll find it here. Hong Kong people are shopaholics as in…they go GAGA for everything!
Times Square, Causeway Bay |
MARC by Marc Jacobs, Causeway Bay |
Causeway bay is the best place to shop, then Central (because of H&M and IFC Mall). If you’re looking for the special items of MARC by Marc Jacobs, head to Kingston Street in Causeway bay… its heaven!
Also, H&M is the best part in Hong Kong… you’ll find chic yet affordable apparels and accessories there. You can check four branches there; Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Mongkok, Diamond Hill (Not sure), and soon Megabox in Kowloon.
Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui has a lot to offer for shopaholics, though Causeway Bay still the best part of Hong Kong to shop.

Three reasons why I like shopping in Hong Kong; no idiot security guards who pretends to check your bag!, no store staff who always bug you and thinks you’re a shop lifter, and you can fit as much as you want.
