Manchester United striker Michael Owen insists the 3-0 victory over Aldershot
Town in the League Cup showed the team’s eagerness to bounce back afte
r being "kicked in the teeth" by Manchester City at the weekend.
Owen was one of three separate scorers on the night at the EBB Stadium
, with Dimitar Berbatov getting the opener, the former Liverpool man grabbing
the second, before Antonio Valencia smashed home the third.
After the 6-1 thrashing by rivals City, Owen claims the last 48 hours have
been fairly downbeat in the United camp, but believes the result shows its
desire to place the loss in its rear-view mirror.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Owen said: "Well just as you can imagine really,
the laughs and the jokes have quietened down a little bit and it focused your mind.
Sometimes you need a kick in the teeth to get up and going again and
concentrate on the basics again, it was a big kick in the teeth and we were
eager to bounce back."
