Celebs mingle with journalists and politicians at the 98th annual White House Correspondents' Dinner held in Washington, D.C. -- By omg! staff
Lindsay Lohan was just one of many celebs who was lucky enough to score an invite to the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner held at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C, on Saturday night. The annual event is not only attended by the president and the first lady, but many other government officials, members of the press corps, and even Hollywood stars. Though the troubled actress -- who was the guest of Fox's Greta Van Susteren -- cleaned up quite nicely for the soiree, wearing a voluminous halter gown and her red tresses down, some critics like HollywoodLife are questioning whether or not the plunging neckline and revealing side panel were appropriate for the occasion. Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time Lohan’s raised eyebrows by donning a racy look for a serious event. Remember all the sexy ensembles she sported at her various court dates in 2011?
"Modern Family" siren Sofia Vergara popped a pose in black cocktail frock and platform pumps. The actress and a few of her co-stars had seats at the ABC News/Yahoo! News table. Proceeds from the dinner go toward scholarships for aspiring journalists and awards recognizing excellence in the profession.
18-year-old Dakota Fanning (“War of the Worlds”) wore a slightly dowdy (albeit it event-appropriate) frock and matching metallic sandals. At least her mane looked luxurious!
New mom Charlize Theron, who was invited to the D.C. bash by Politico, looked stunning as always in a black lace number.
Diane Keaton was all smiles in her usual suit, tie, and hat combo. The Oscar-winning actress, who attended the event as the invited guest of People magazine, posed with pretty "Parks and Recreation" star Rashida Jones, who sat at Fortune's table.
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl Kate Upton, invited by Bloomberg, kept her curves mostly covered up in a blush long-sleeved wrap dress.
Is it us, or was Zooey Deschanel in desperate need of some bling? The “New Girl” star looked incredibly plain sans accoutrements. A statement necklace and diamond earrings would have undoubtedly elevated her look from drab to fab.
Singer John Legend and his model/fiance Chrissy Teigen were one of the most attractive couples in attendance at the "nerd prom."
Kim Kardashian managed to leave Kanye West's side in NYC in order to head to D.C. for the big shindig. The reality star, invited by Fox News, wore a velvet gown with embellished shoulders and her hair pulled up into a high bun.
Lady-in-red Kris Jenner accompanied her daughter to the dinner. What do you think of her new 'do?
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and his wife Candice Crawford left their new 3-week-old baby boy at home for a night so they could attend the prestigious soiree. The couple was photographed while at the Time/People/Fortune/CNN pre-cocktail party.
A guest of Politico, Ivanka Trump sparkled from head to toe in a gorgeous embellished gown.
As the invited guest of CNN’s Piers Morgan, Goldie Hawn spiced things up in her black slip-style gown with a lace overlay and white fur stole.
Goldie's daughter, Kate Hudson, was also in attendance. The actress flaunted her trim physique in a shimmering violet gown, which she topped off with a big blond bun.
Syndicated columnist and Huffington Post co-founder Arianna Huffington stood out (in a bad way) thanks to her eyesore-inducing mess of a dress.
Funnyman Aziz Ansari -- who plays underachieving Pawnee city employee/budding entrepreneur Tom Haverford on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” -- delivered some of his character’s signature swagger in a dapper tux. The actor was invited to the dinner by The New Yorker.
"Homeland" hottie Claire Danes made her way down the arrivals line in a fabulously futuristic halter-neck dress and freshly highlighted locks.
Rosario Dawson rocked an eye-popping low-cut emerald gown for the fete. The actress, who also attended the D.C. event last year, was invited by Atlantic Media.
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige paired her cute, crystal-encrusted dress with cherry red platform pumps and accessorized with husband of nine years, Martin Kendu Isaacs.
Elizabeth Banks -- who portrays Effie Trinket in “The Hunger Games” -- opted for a strapless column gown in fire engine red. A loose updo, giant hoop earrings, and a matching cuff completed her ensemble.
We’re not quite sure why or how Chace Crawford snagged an invite to the star-studded bash, but we must admit that we never tire of looking at pics of the “Gossip Girl” hunk!
Supermodel and “Fashion Star” hostess with the mostest Elle Macpherson showed off one of her stems a la Angelina Jolie in a black gown, which featured a thigh-high slit, structured bodice, and lengthy train.
Move over, Bo Obama! The four-legged star of “The Artist,” Uggie, stole the show on the red carpet in an adorable mini tuxedo. Once inside the event, he took a seat at the Washington Times’ table.
Miss Washington went to Washington! Kerry, the star of the ABC political drama “Scandal,” looked sweet in a long-sleeved peach Calvin Klein gown and simple ponytail.
Nobody rocks basic black better than Anna Paquin. The “True Blood” beauty -- who recently announced she is expecting her first child with hubby/co-star Stephen Moyer -- oozed elegance in her dramatic dress and smoky eyes.
Journalist and “ABC World News” anchor Diane Sawyer looked quite chic in her cold-shouldered jersey knit dress and matching black peep-toes. Her gorgeous golden accessories included earrings, a handbag, and a wrap.
Move over, Katniss! It looks like Peeta (aka Josh Hutcherson) has a new lady in his life. The 19-year-old movie star -- who recently hoisted the Vanguard trophy at the GLAAD Media Awards for his support of the LGBT community -- cozied up to Katherine Schwarzenegger at the A-list soiree.
Grammy darling Alicia Keys rocked a retro look, which included a belted tunic, platform pumps, and a voluminous ‘do, while her hubby/baby daddy, Swizz Beats, failed to impress in a collarless shirt.
“Watchmen” actress Malin Akerman strutted her stuff in a cleavage-baring champagne gown paired with black pumps and a matching clutch.
“Glee” star Matthew Morrison dared to be different in a pinstripe tux. But it was his girlfriend of about a year, Renee Puente, who stole the show in her electric blue gown. The two sat at the Fox News table, as did Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian.
