I am not a very big fan of Museums; I find them boring. The only thing that attracts me are museums with dinosaur fossils. I recently went to a Museum in Germany and it was a great experience. Now I don’t know if you guys are aware of this or not, but throughout the world there are museums that will scare the crazy out of you. I happen to love scary things and therefore this particular was quite a bit of fun for me and if I ever get the chance I am going to visit at least one of these museums. Read the article to find out more about these weird museums.
10. HOUSE ON THE ROCKK
This ‘museum’ was to be the house of absolutely anything and was opened in 1959 in Wisconsin. You enter the museum and you would feel as if you are back in the twentieth century. You will find a 200 foot model of sea monster. Absolutely everything in this museum has been left to rot in the dusty rooms of the building. You have to be there in order to appreciate the horror of this place; words can’t even begin to do justice to it. 9. GLORE PSYCHIATRIC MUSEUM
In this museum you can find electroshock treatment and lobotomies and weird stuff that people have swallowed over time. The museum also has instruments from the ancient times and these instruments were actually used to bleed patients. In short, this museum is dedicated to all the crazy stuff and it feels weird just being around all these things. This museum features instruments used in treating mental illnesses. 8. NEW HAVEN VENTRILOQUIST MUSEUM
This museum is in Connecticut and it contains ventriloquist dummies. You go into the theatre and every seat is taken by a dummy so you have to stand on the stage. If you suffer from Autonomatonophobia (the fear artificial human-like figures), this museum will be a living hell for you. The dummies are arranged in such a way that they will scare you no matter how strong a heart you possess. Standing in the middle of dummies with weird faces is not a comfortable thought for me. 7. CATACOMBS OF PALERMO
This building is full of corpses of monks and people from a really long time ago. The bodies are lined up neatly against the wall. They are wearing the same clothes they were buried in. The bodies are very well-preserved; they look as if they are peacefully sleeping and of course that just adds to the horror. Most of them look as if they are going to wake up anytime and attack you. It’s a must see. 6. LONDON DUNGEON
This is another famous museum in London. You can find many torturing device from the ancient times in this museum. It is more like a haunted house if you may. While you peacefully walk inside the museum checking out weird stuff and devices, actors will scare the hell out of you. It is just unexpected that’s all. Since this is a popular museum, you probably will have to wait in line in order to get in. 5. LOMBROSO’S MUSEUM OF CRIMINAL ANTHROLOPOLOGY
Lombroso founded the Italian school of Criminology. This museum is filled with objects relating to his work; it is scary. The museum has different images of crime and weapons (used in slaughter of humans). Lombroso’s preserved head can also be found right here. If you like skulls and human remains, this museum will be very interesting for you. 4. MADAME TUSSAUDS
You folks must be aware of this museum. This one in London is famous all over the world. If you haven’t been there, I suggest you do that as soon as possible. The museum doesn’t only contain wax statues of celebrities but it also contains cut-off wax heads. The wax head of the King of France is also in this museum. You all know ‘Jack the Ripper’ too I assume. Well, there is a life-size reproduction of one of his victim’s in this museum which is very freaky. You can find all of this in the chamber of horrors along with actors hired to scare the hell out of you.. 3. MUSEUM OF ANATOMY
Honore Fraonard was an anatomy professor. In 1794 he started collecting dead bodies for a museum. You should know that all the corpses that are present in the Museum are actually real and have been carved out by the aforementioned professor. They were preserved long time ago by a special chemical. The recipe to that chemical is still a mystery. The collection includes animals, children, adults and executed criminals. This museum is in Paris and you can only enter via an appointment. 2. MUTTER MUSEUM
This museum has an unusually large collection of skulls and anatomical specimens. This museum is home to the tumor that was removed from President Grover Cleveland, the conjoined liver from the famous Siamese twins and a growth that was removed from the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln. You may not exactly be terrified to be in this museum, but you might end up having nightmares about it. Being in the presence of skeletons is just not acceptable for me at least. 1. THE PURGATORY MUSEUM
There is a wide belief that anyone who dies with lesser sins on their conscious will have their soul sent to the purgatory where it will be cleansed and then float off to heaven. I am sure you can understand why this museum is number one on this list considering the explanation I just gave. This museum is in Rome. There are several records of soul coming back to Earth to haunt. Some items on display have scorch marks and outlines of hands that don’t seem to belong to human beings as you can see in the picture above. This book is perhaps the scariest thing in the entire museum.Well, I just made the idea of visiting a museum fascinating for me. If you were given a choice, which amongst these would you prefer to visit. I would choose the Purgatory Museum; something about haunting souls that I love. If we missed out on a museum, please feel free to let us know in the comments.
